1978 Ginetta G15 Super S Chassis #0001 G15 SS

Description

1978 Ginetta G15 SS Chassis #0001 !  Only 2 SS's were ever built and this is the only one known to still exist. The SS had many special modifications with the biggest one being powered by a Bernie Bergmann VW engine which we believe is a 2030CC putting out 130hp and weighing in at roughly 1,100 lbs. The SS is left hand drive, has a special font end with the gas cap hidden under the hood (Lid). The SS was the only G15 produced with special reclining sliding seats that have recently been reupholstered. The SS has wider wheels than the standard G15 and flared fender arches. The SS also has a special engine cover/trunk lid that allows easy access to the engine compartment.
On this SS the rubber Lotus drive "doughnuts" were upgraded to CV joints in the drive shafts. It also had the shocks and springs upgraded with racing spec components for slalom/solo 2 racing. The car was just repainted and had a tune-up. The car has 1,368 miles showing on the odometer which we believe to be accurate and original. The car was originally imported and owned by Art Allen. Art and the car were featured in the book, Ginetta The Illustrated History by John Rose. The car was set up to do some Solo2 racing in the early 90's. It was never driven on the street much and was sold to a collector who kept it in a storage garage for many years. Art bought it back in early 2014 at it has been sitting in his garage ever since.
Art recently trailered the car into a shop for a tune up, had the interior re-done, and had the car painted.
Street legal and has been registered in California.
